A midsummer backyard family session

I know I’m late to publishing a lot of things lately, but I’ve spent so much of my life feeling like I’m catching up, but never really, that in my own space I’m OK with showing up fashionably late.

This is a family session I photographed in hybrid – which is to say in part in digital, and in part on film – and I’ll eventually put together an article on why this seems like a smart choice before a session, but always ends in frustration for me. However, despite the frustration, the session was good, really good.

I knew the little girl from a picture day session I’d photographed in the fall of last year, and she was full of life  and ideas. I let her lead most of the way!

Also, if you have a backyard that opens on a wild prairie, I’ll come and photograph you and your family any time! This yard was just so good!

Of course this is my selection of favorites, the entire session was gold, there were more, but I’m not trying to overwhelm anyone (first of all myself 😉)

A final word.
